Most training programs,
whether in-person or online, focus too much on the wrong things.
Too much
information (“information dump”)
Too passive
Too rigid
So
what makes my curricula different from the norm?
When I create training
programs and curricula, I don’t want learners to “know” or
“understand” something. I don’t even want them to “feel” something
different. Instead, I am looking for action and a change in
behaviour. It’s only with client action that we can
reach our program targets and outcomes.
And like all of the
projects I work on, I always tap into the knowledge and advice of
experts in the field and research-based data for content and to help
guide us in the right direction. I can create programs that include
the intake process all the way to follow-up and everything in
between, including facilitator notes and participants’ handouts. I
have experience creating in-group programs as well as creating full
storyboards for online programs.
I can help your
not-for-profit organization create new curricula or revamp existing
training programs to help you get your clients moving from
information to action.
“I can say overall that clients loved- simply loved-
understanding the Canadian employers’ mindset and
came up with GREAT action plans. Much better than
what I had seen with former curriculum. Many
wonderful moments like this. Many people leave with
clear plans and progress and a high level of
commitment and engagement.” JSW Facilitator
“I want
to absolutely ensure that this is reflected in my
comments: the level of client engagement throughout
the pilot was very, very high! This is very much a
testimony to the careful design and planning of the
curriculum and fitting it into the time frames. It
had its greatest success in the independence it
fostered in people to take ownership of their job
search.” JSW Facilitator
“I just
finished reading your Essential and Employability
Skills Curriculum. I started reading it earlier
today and I could not put it down, it was so
interesting. I have never read a curriculum cover to
cover and been excited about it. You have captured
everything that is needed…easy to understand,
detailed, thorough. This will only help our overall
program be more successful.” John Neven, Former
Pre-Apprenticeship Trades Coordinator
